At the beach, bodies are revealed and express themselves through movement and play. The bodies are part of the material, and to emphasize their density, I have covered them with sand, giving them a relief, like a kind of sculpture. They are very earthy, just like the beach itself, which is also covered in sand. But at the same time, they are very alive. And they dance in a vast monochromatic space. Monochrome, for me, is a vision of the infinite, a representation of non-material, an undetermined space from which the great mystery of life can emerge.
Imagine you're at the beach and you're arching your back like a bridge, or playing inside a hula hoop, or jumping on a trampoline. Your body moves and you feel very happy. It's like the characters in my paintings. They are happy. And to show their emotion, I imagined painting the pictures in just one color. Yellow and green for joy, red for energy, and blue for tranquility. It's all these emotions together that make us happy.
