When we face reality, all the warning signs are flashing red. Today, a once-threatened nature has become a threatening force, and the scale of these disruptions is beyond us.
Since 2008, an average of 21.5 million people have been forcibly displaced each year due to climate-related events. But the reasons for migration are many—climatic, cultural, economic, or political.
For generations, millions have left their homes in search of a better life. With the upheavals now underway, even more will be forced to do the same.

When Water Takes Over the Land

Sometimes, it rains so much that rivers overflow. Water floods cities, rushes into houses. Roads vanish beneath it, and trees seem to float—just like in this photo.
Every year, millions of people must leave their homes because of floods or other changes in the climate. But that’s not the only reason. Some move to find work, to be safe, or to give their families a better future.
With all these changes, more and more people will have to leave. One day, it might be you—or someone you know. When that time comes, we’ll need open hearts to welcome those in need.
