An artistic, ecological and heritage journey to the heart of Chevreuse
On the occasion of the European Heritage Days 2025 , on Saturday 20 and Sunday 21 September , the GRATALOUP museum opens its doors to you for a unique cultural experience in one of the hidden gems of the Chevreuse Valley. Housed in the Saint-Saturnin priory , an exceptional 10th-century building, the museum offers an immersive visit combining heritage, contemporary art and ecology , thanks to bilingual podcasts , an exhibition on water and a sensitive scenography.
🏛️ A place steeped in history: the Saint-Saturnin priory
As every year, the GRATALOUP museum participates in this national event and invites visitors to discover a little-known heritage gem : the Saint-Saturnin priory , a remarkable 10th century building, restored and rehabilitated into a contemporary art museum.
Thanks to a bilingual podcast (French/English) specially designed for the occasion, you will go back in time, from the year 1000 to today, discovering this place inhabited by a thousand years of history.
💧 An exhibition committed to the European Heritage Days 2025
Under the 2025 theme "Cultivating our future" , the Heritage Days also aim to be educational and meaningful. This year, in conjunction with the Ministry of Culture and the 2tonnes association, the GRATALOUP museum is offering a sensitive look at one of the major contemporary issues: water .
The current exhibition, "The Colors of Water" , offers a double immersion:
In the garden , 14 photographs by Yann ARTHUS-BERTRAND reveal the beauty and fragility of the resource "water" in the world.
In the chapel , around fifteen works by the symbolist painter GRATALOUP evoke water in all its spiritual, poetic and universal dimensions.
Each work is accompanied by an immersive podcast , in two versions (adults/children), also bilingual.
Don't forget to bring your smartphone headphones to fully enjoy this experience.
